UEFA SELLS MEDIA RIGHTS IN THE BALTIC

Sports Marketing .ie has learned that UEFA has announced the sale of meda rights in the Baltic countries.

UEFA announced that it has concluded the sale of the 2009-12 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League media rights in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Free-to-air broadcasters
For the UEFA Champions League, the first-choice live match on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well as highlights on both nights and the weekly magazine programme have been awarded to free-to-air broadcasters RTS in Serbia, IN TV in Montenegro and BHRT in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

UEFA Europa League
For the UEFA Europa League, free-to-air broadcasters have been awarded the first-choice match in each matchweek as well as the second-choice match up to the quarter-final stage of the competition. Each partner (Serbia – B92, Bosnia-Herzegovina – OBN TV, and Montenegro – RTCG) will also show a highlights programme each matchweek.

New pay operator
UEFA has also concluded deals for both competitions in the three countries with Arena TV, a new pay operator in the region. Arena TV has been awarded the remaining live match rights and highlights on each matchday which will be shown across the broadcaster’s Arena Sport channels.

Finals and UEFA Super Cup
Both finals and the UEFA Super Cup will be broadcast on a simultaneous basis by UEFA’s free-to-air and pay partners. Fans in each country will also be able to access the action from both competitions via the internet and on mobile.

‘Excellent exposure guaranteed’
Commenting on the award of these rights, UEFA said: “UEFA is very pleased to confirm these media rights deals which guarantee excellent exposure for both competitions via a combination of experienced free-to-air broadcasters and a new pay broadcaster entrant in the form of Arena TV. These deals will deliver a significantly greater level and choice of programming to fans of UEFA’s European club football competitions throughout the region.” TEAM Marketing AG is the exclusive marketing agent of UEFA for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Europa League.
